Lissandra Kolaire

Engineer, Mercenary, Battlefield Medic

Mercurial, stubborn, and insatiably curious: Lissandra is a talented but difficult woman with a slightly concerning zeal for retrofitting magitech weaponry. Equipped with a strong moral compass and a weak sense of foresight, she's spent her life in constant motion; always seeking out someone to help, something interesting to do, or for something new to learn.Lissa currently finds herself in an unenjoyable period of down-time. Having recently ended a nearly three year stint serving on the Bozjan front, she now finds herself working odd jobs and looking for her next hyperfixation.

More Details

Lissa is a shorter woman with a wiry yet muscled body; petite by default but toned up through years of training and manual labor. Her skin bears testament to her time spent working and fighting outdoors. What was once a fair alabaster is now lightly tanned and speckled faintly with freckles, sun scars, and callouses.A myriad of unimpressive (albeit varied) scars and burns haphazardly cover her body, though they can most prominently be seen on her hands and forearms as a result of her work. The most noticeable of scars sits on her left cheekbone, just beneath her eye. What she lacks in imposing stature she makes up for with a confident poise and gait. Despite her occasional efforts to conceal her upbringing... her overall demeanor, manner of speaking, and frankly, her audacity, identify her as Ishgardian upper-class. While she speaks in a smooth yet gruff baritone that's a strange blend of naturally husky and a pack-a-day smoker and frequently plays down her own intelligence, she hasn't quite dropped the accent nor the tenor of being well-educated.Being the youngest member of a large family comes with a significant amount of freedom, something which Lissandra takes complete advantage of. While her hobbies, interests, and obsessions changed frequently as she grew up, technology remained the one constant variable. As an adult, her talents, interests, and motivations have coalesced into a life's purpose to improve the efficacy and accessibility of magitek in order to integrate it into the average citizen's every day life.

Even More Details

Like all of her siblings, Lissandra attended the Saint Endalim Scholasticate and would complete the trivium and quadrivium. During her time as a student and briefly after, she held a few intern-esque positions working in the Skysteel Manufactory, especially with the creation of the aetherotransformer firearms, which remain one of her primary weapons to this day.More interesting, however, are the set of nouliths she carries and wields. The interior technology and crystal mechanisms have been removed from whatever traditional casing they were in and implanted into what appear to be the husks of Garlean-style pistols. When not in use, they remain strapped to her lower back and hip holsters and appear, at a glance, to be regular pistols. It's easy to tell they aren't regular pistols when they're flying around her firing lasers; but beyond that, the only obvious indicator that they're non-standard is the lack of any trigger mechanism.

While Lissa isn't enlisted in any military, it's obvious to those with experience that the foundation of her technique is rooted in Ishgardian military training. She's not an excellent fighter but she is an excellent combatant- a distinction she adamantly points out whenever given the opportunity. On the field, she's primarily a salvager and battle medic, however. She's not a necessarily powerful healer; boasting average-at-best aether stamina and control. But she's well trained and also has a solid grasp on non-magical first aid. Unsurprisingly, her bedside manner is terrible.

General Hooks

general and common hooks

  • Lissa grew up as the youngest member of the Ishgardian minor house: House Kolaire. Given her house's wealth being situated in trade and craftsman work, it's equally likely that an Ishgardian who is nobility, commoner, or lowborn may have met or known Lissa when she was younger. As examples: She was forced to attend formal social gatherings, attended schooling, helped run her family's shop and also hung out around the parts of town that gave her parents anxiety.

  • Lissa served as a sellsword on the Bozjan front for around three years. While there, she built up a reputation for being recklessly successful yet consistently dependable. She also became a person to go to when you needed to get your hands on weird or Garlean tech.

  • Lissa has worked on and off as a mercenary for years, taking all kinds of work in Ishgard, the main city-states, Kugane, and even occasionally Radz-at-han during shore-leave. She makes an effort to remember folk she enjoyed working with and to reach out to them when she has a job offer.

More Hooks

Specific hooks I'm interested in

  • Lissa spent a long time viciously resenting the Garleans. With the recent upheaval of the world's political stage, she's finding herself struggling to reconcile that rage. To that end, she's been providing her considerable experience with Garlean magitek and machinery to help with their reconstruction efforts. I'd love to make some Garlean connections to explore this struggle and growth!

  • Much to her sister's dismay, Lissa has a 'bad habit' of tinkering and creating tech and tools and then immediately giving it away to people for free who seem like they would benefit from it more than her; as well as modifying or repairing gear and items for folks and not charging them. The only indication that she invented something is a small engraving of her personal sigil signature- an L and K overlapped.

  • She's got nouliths (strike 1), she's not Sharlayan (strike 2), and she's too good with them for the profession to be newly acquired (strike 3). This may be intriguing (or worrying) to Sharlayan characters.

"Rem" Verin

Close Friend

Rem is a talented fighter and deeply curious individual- the perfect combination in Lissa's opinion. The two met on the Bozjan front and soon came to consider the other to be dependable as well as enjoyable company. They worked together frequently on the battlefield. When leaving the Bozjan front, they parted ways with a promise to keep in touch.

Iron Boulder

Best Friend

they is best buddies and public nuisances together. WIP

Avelle Kolaire

Older Sister

Avelle is not only one of the oldest of Lissa's siblings but is more importantly her favorite sibling. The two get along famously and while Lissa doesn't share even a fraction of Avelle's love for 'fancy history rocks', Lissa is always available to help on artifact runs and contracts.

Rheanne Maret

Aunt

Rheanne has always been the black stain on the Maret-Kolaire family due to her very vocal advocation of 'heretical magic'. Lissa, however, has always been enamored with and close to 'Auntie Rhea'. Less so because of a shared interest and moreso because of their shared opinions about remaining steadfast in one's convictions. The two make for an awful yet somehow successful duo in the rare occasions their work overlaps.

OOC

Hey all! Lissandra is housed on the Mateus server, however, I'm always down for a visitor or friend from another world! Hit me up in-game or via Discord at AvaZope#1323. I do prefer to RP in-game but I'm OK with Discord!Lissa is part of a player-made Ishgardian house written by me. For more info on them, check out this carrd. I prefer longterm storylines with a serious foundation. Though I enjoy silly, fun stuff as well, of course! I'm interested in any sort of connections for her! Friends, family, enemies, clients, you name it.I'm generally pretty chill with conflict happening to my characters, but I do prefer for serious injury or harm to be determined and agreed upon prior to a scene. I DM for my FC/Fellowship and have for many years across multiple platforms. I'm more than happy to run a more complex scene or storyline.
